El autoritarismo digital iraní en el caso de Mahsa Gina Aminí: una perspectiva desde el capitalismo de vigilancia

Abstract

Este artículo estudia las nuevas formas de autoritarismo en Irán desde el marco conceptual del “capitalismo de vigilancia”. El argumento central defiende que a la par de la digitalización y del mayor acceso a internet en Irán, las formas de autoritarismo por parte del Estado se han ido adaptando a las nuevas realidades tecnológicas siempre en relación con el sector de la seguridad, particularmente en el sector de la vigilancia, el acoso digital y la manipulación de la esfera pública. El texto también defiende que el autoritarismo digital iraní solo es posible gracias a la ayuda y soporte técnico de actores internacionales como el gobierno chino y algunas de sus compañías especializadas en tecnología y seguridad. A su vez, el artículo presenta evidencias de cómo el autoritarismo digital no sustitye a las formas clásicas de autoritarismo lideradas por el poder policial, particularmente la tortura, los interrogatorios forzados y otras medidas carcelarias, sino que las complementa, tal como lo ha demostrado el contexto de las poderosas protestas populares por la muerte de Mahsa Gina Aminí, el cual ha sido un momento de reforzamiento autoritario en el espacio público iraní que se manifestó poco después de la pandemia por covid-19.
