Iradiasi Sinar Gamma Terhadap Beberapa Varietas Padi Pada Fase Bibit Perkecambahan

Abstract

Padi (Oryza sativa L.) merupakan komoditas pangan strategis dan sumber utama karbohidrat bagi sebagian besar penduduk dunia, termasuk Indonesia. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan produksi padi yaitu dengan mutasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mempelajari pengaruh iradiasi sinar gamma terhadap beberapa varietas padi pada fase bibit perkecambahan. Iradiasi sinar gamma dilakukan pada bulan Januari 2025 di Pusat Aplikasi Isotop dan Radiasi (PAIR), Badan Tenaga Nuklir Nasional (BATAN), Pasar Jumat, Jakarta, sedangkan penanaman dilakukan di Jl. Belibis, Kec. Rantau Selatan, Kab. Labuhanbatu pada bulan Maret 2025. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial yaitu iradiasi sinar gamma pada dosis sebagai berikut: 0 Gy (kontrol/tanpa dosis radiasi); 50 Gy; 100 Gy; 150 Gy; 200 Gy; 250 Gy; 300 Gy; 350 Gy; 400 Gy dan 450 Gy. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap daya berkecambah, tinggi bibit dan panjang akar. Data hasil pengamatan dianalisis sidik ragam yang dilanjutkan uji jarak berganda Duncan (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh iradiasi sinar gamma yang terlihat pada persentase daya berkecambah. Iradiasi sinar gamma juga berpengaruh terhadap rata-rata tinggi bibit dan panjang akar. Penurunan daya kecambah dan tinggi bibit terendah terjadi pada tanaman padi varietas sibenang dosis 450 Gy, yaitu 0%. Sedangkan Panjang akar terpendek yaitu pada padi varietas ciherang pada dosis 450 Gy, yaitu 1,93 cm.
