Abstract

Haemophilus cinsi bakteriler küçük, hareketsiz, gram negatif çomaklardır ve üremek için eritrositlerde bulunan X faktörüne, V faktörüne ya da her ikisine birlikte gereksinim duyarlar. H. influenzae hastalıkla ilişkilendirilen en yaygın türdür ve kapsül polisakkaritlerine göre a’dan f’ye altı antijenik serotipi tanımlanmıştır. H. influenzae tip b’nin sebep olduğu enfeksiyonlar menenjit epiglottit, septik artrit, pnömoni, ampiyem, sellülit, bakteriyemi, osteomiyelit ve perikardittir. Haemophilus türleri (özellikle H. parainfluenza ve kapsülsüz H. influenza suşları) insanların solunum yolu mukozal yüzeylerinde kolonize olarak bulunur. H. aegyptius, akut pürülan konjonktivit etkenidir. Ayrıca ateş, bulantı, kusma, döküntü ve şok ile karakterize yüksek derecede ölümcül Brezilya purpurik ateşi adı verilen hastalığa da sebep olduğu gösterilmiştir. H. ducreyi yumuşak şankr (şankroid) hastalığına sebep olmaktadır, cinsel yolla bulaşır, çoğunlukla Afrika, Asya’da görülür. H. parainfluenza flora elemanı olup, bakteriyemi, endokardit ve fırsatçı enfeksiyonlar yapabilir. H. aphrophilus sp. diş yüzeylerinde bulunabilir, önce kana yayılıp hasarlı bir kalp kapağına yapışarak subakut endokardite yol açabilir.
