Eficiencia de filtros de carbón activado a base de capirona, bambú y cáscara de coco en la remoción de contaminantes del agua

Abstract

El crecimiento demográfico continuo y la inadecuada gestión de aguas residuales domésticas y municipales han provocado la contaminación de la quebrada Shitariyacu ubicada en el distrito de Zapatero, región San Martín, Perú. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar la eficiencia de filtros elaborados con carbones de capirona, bambú y cáscara de coco en la remoción de parámetros físico-químicos y microbiológicos del agua de la quebrada. La metodología aplicada siguió un enfoque cuantitativo y un diseño cuasi experimental. Los parámetros analizados incluyen temperatura, turbidez, conductividad eléctrica, color, pH, demanda bioquímica de oxígeno (DBO), demanda química de oxígeno (DQO), metales pesados ​​(plomo y cadmio) y contaminantes microbiológicos como coliformes totales, coliformes fecales y Escherichia coli. Los resultados indicaron que, aunque no se observaron diferencias significativas en temperatura y pH (valores de p > 0,05), el filtro 1, compuesto por 800 g de carbón de capirona, presentó la mayor eficiencia en la remoción de contaminantes, seguido por el filtro 3, elaborado con 800 g de carbón de cáscara de coco. Se concluye que los filtros estudiados son efectivos para mejorar la calidad físico-química y microbiológica del agua, con especial destaque para el carbón de capirona como material adsorbente de alta eficiencia.
