Fatores que interferem na adesão de gestantes com HIV/Aids à terapia anti-retroviral

Abstract

Objetivo: Conhecer as experiências de gestantes com HIV/Aids em relação à adesão à terapia anti-retroviral em dois hospitaispúblicos de referência para HIV/Aids em Fortaleza- CE, Brasil. Métodos: Estudo descritivo, realizado com 24 mulheres grávidas que estavam em acompanhamento pré-natal e em uso da terapia anti-re troviral. Os dados sociodemográficos, obstétricos e informações relativas à experiência com a adesão à terapia antirretroviral foram colhidos nos meses de julho a setembro de 2009, por meio de uma entrevista semiestruturada. Resultados: As mulheres tinham média de idade de 29 anos, baixa renda, baixaescolaridade e parceiro fixo. Identificou-se que alguns fatores interferem para que as gestantes façam adesão ao tratamento com antirretrovirais. Dentre estas se destacam a não aceitação do diagnóstico e a ausência de sinais e sintomas de Aids. Entretanto, o medo de transmitir o vírus para o bebê serviu de estímulo para as gestantes aderirem ao tratamento. Conclusão: A não aceitação do diagnóstico e a ausência de sinais e sintomas de Aids interferem negativamente para que as gestantes façam adesão ao tratamento antirretroviral. Por outro lado, o medo do filho nascer com o vírus e a vontade de continuar a viver são estímulos para a adesão.
