Abstract

En el primero de esta serie de dos artículos se presentó la formulación físico-matemática de los procesos de flujo multifásico no isotermo acoplados con el transporte de calor para un sistema multicomponente de solutos reactivos. Esta formulación matemática se ha resuelto numéricamente mediante un sofisticado código, FADES-CORE„ (Juncosa et al., 2001b) desarrollado por Juncosa y Navarro (Juncosa, 1999) a partir del acoplamiento de un código termohidromecánico FADES„ (Navarro, 1997) y un código de transporte de solutos reactivos CORE2D„ (Samper et al., 2000). En este artículo se presenta el modelo acoplado termo-hidro-geoquímico de un ensayo de calentamiento e hidratación realizado en el marco del proyecto FEBEX (Huertas et al., 2000) con el fin de caracterizar la idoneidad de bentonitas compactadas como material de sellado y contención en un almacenamiento de residuos radioactivos en una formación granítica. Se presenta el modelo conceptual y numérico de un ensayo de laboratorio realizado por CIEMAT en una celda termohidráulica (celda CT23), en la que una muestra cilíndrica de bentonita inicialmente seca es hidratada y sometida a un fuerte gradiente térmico (3 oC/cm) durante 4394 horas. El modelo numérico reproduce satisfactoriamente los valores medidos de la temperatura, el contenido de humedad, el volumen de agua inyectado, las concentraciones de los iones mayoritarios (Cl-, HCO-3 , SO24-, Na+, Ca2+, K+ y Mg2+) y las concentraciones de los cationes de cambio.
