Filogenia, Paleobiogeografia e as consequencias do supercontinente Gondwana para a Família Iridinidae

Abstract

A família Iridinidae, que abrange moluscos bivalves dulcícolas, era tradicionalmente considerada originária do continente africano. No entanto, pesquisas contemporâneas propõem uma origem sul-americana, particularmente no Brasil, para este grupo. Esta revisão do entendimento sobre a procedência dos Iridinidae incita investigações sobre os mecanismos de dispersão que facilitaram a distribuição transcontinental da família. Ademais, surgem indagações relativas às conexões filogenéticas entre os gêneros pertencentes à família Iridinidae, dispersos entre a América do Norte, América do Sul e o continente africano. A necessidade de esclarecimento sobre essas relações sugere a importância de um exame detalhado da filogenia e da paleogeografia do grupo. Dessa forma, o principal objetivo deste projeto é aprofundar a compreensão dos padrões evolutivos e da dinâmica biogeográfica associada à dispersão da família Iridinidae, contribuindo para elucidar a história evolutiva e os processos de colonização de habitats de água doce por bivalves.
