While people with HIV (PWH) are living longer and asymptomatically due to medical advances in diagnosis and treatment, they are now developing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) associated with increasing age such as hypertension or stroke or diabetes which ironically leads to diminished quality of life and increased mortality. Thus, developing and implementing cost-effective strategies that integrate treatment for these NCDs into the HIV setting is critical for improving the quality of life for PWH. While this is particularly relevant in lower- and middle-income countries it is a global issue that affects PWH from all backgrounds including high-income countries such as the United States.
