INFLUENCIA DEL LATEX COMO REPELENTE EN PLANTAS ANTE HORMIGAS CORTADORAS DE HOJAS

Abstract

Se realizó un experimento corto y sencillo, cuya pregunta de investigación fue: ¿El látex inhibirá los cortes de hoja por parte de las hormigas? Sobre la base de esa cuestión, surgió la hipótesis que el látex inhibe los cortes de hojas por parte de las hormigas, prediciendo que, si se impregna látex a los bordes de las hojas predilectas por hormigas, entonces las hormigas no cortarán estas hojas. El número de cortes realizados en las hojas sin látex fue significativamente mayor con respecto a los cortes en las hojas con látex. Esto indica que el látex por sí solo resulta ser un inhibidor natural contra la presencia de hormigas cortadoras de hojas.
