Abstract

El siguiente trabajo analiza, a partir de la historia social de los saberes y expertos del deporte, el Primer Congreso Argentino de Medicina Deportiva realizado en Buenos Aires en 1955. Examina el congreso como un espacio material y simbólico en el que se problematizaron ciertas temáticas vinculadas con los deportes, la salud y el cuidado de los cuerpos. Asimismo, se identifica la presencia de ciertos expertos y determinadas instituciones con autoridad y legitimidad a la hora de conceptualizar el universo deportivo a partir y desde el discurso biomédico. Entre las conclusiones se identifican diversos énfasis otorgados a las finalidades de las prácticas deportivas, la coexistencia de distintas prioridades sobre ciertos destinatarios y diferencias en los enfoques propuestos. Estas perspectivas convivieron y se articularon con claros tonos político-partidarios.
