Competencias socioemocionales y rendimiento académico en educación primaria

Abstract

Existe un serio cuestionamiento a la educación que se imparte ennuestro sistema educativo. Entre otros argumentos se señala que éstase ha centrado en el desarrollo cognitivo, descuidando aspectos esenciales como las emociones y la afectividad. Como resultado, la gestión de competencias socioemocionales se ha vuelto crucial para quelos profesores promuevan una educación integral en los alumnos. Eneste contexto se ubica esta investigación, cuyos objetivos se formularon en términos de conocer el nivel de desarrollo de las competenciassocioemocionales en una muestra de alumnos de sexto grado de educación primaria y determinar la existencia de correlación entre estascompetencias y el rendimiento académico. El estudio se realizó desdeuna metodología descriptiva y correlacional en una muestra de 419educandos. Los datos se recogieron a través de un Cuestionario decompetencias socioemocionales diseñado con este fin (CCSEA-6). Para la variable rendimiento, se recuperaron los resultados de la pruebaobjetiva Evaluación Diagnóstica para las alumnas y los alumnos de Educación Básica. Los resultados del estudio permitieron evidenciarel nivel de desarrollo de estas competencias en los participantes, dela misma manera se identificó una asociación estadísticamente significativa entre las competencias de colaboración, autonomía, con laescala total del CCSEA y el rendimiento académico.
