Abstract

Colombia es considerado como uno de los países con mayor biodiversidad del mundo, razón por la cual, es necesario caracterizar sus ecosistemas y su estado actual para así poder establecer su importancia y el nivel de conservación que requieren. El conflicto armado en Colombia es un factor que influye en gran medida sobre los aspectos de conservación de la biodiversidad, debido a que la presencia de los grupos armados al margen de la ley no permite el acceso a ciertas zonas del país sobre las que se encuentra gran parte de dicha biodiversidad. Asimismo, las actividades realizadas por los grupos armados en estas zonas representan un gran reto para la conservación, ya que entre las principales actividades se encuentra la deforestación, en gran parte para dar paso a los cultivos ilícitos. En consecuencia, se dificulta la identificación de las potenciales pérdidas de biodiversidad generadas por estas actividades. Recientemente el acuerdo de paz firmado entre el gobierno colombiano y las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC), ha permitido el cese a las hostilidades y el repliegue de dichos grupos en zonas de importancia científica, lo cual facilitaría los procesos de investigación y determinación de potenciales nuevos territorios para la conservación.
