Etnias del verano ardiente

Abstract

Es un ensayo en el que se revisan las formas en las que la literatura indigenista mexicana ha trabajado en la construcción de una serie de imágenes contradictorias, oscilantes entre el racismo descalificador y la admiración exaltada de la historia y la cultura de las comunidades originarias de Sonora, particularmente, los yaquis, los mayos y los seris. Se hace un repaso crítico de la propuesta del mestizaje como una solución a lo que los escritores ajenos a esas comunidades consideraban como un problema de atraso y marginación que el país arrastraba. Se hace un repaso de cómo, a veces, se justifica el acoso y la violencia que se ha ejercido históricamente contra ellos, en otras se denuncia y, en algunos casos, se hace el esfuerzo por ver desde dentro sus vivencias, como el caso de Cuentos del desierto de Emma Dolujanoff.
