Abstract

Proses pemesinan yang menggunakan mesin bubut ialah salah satu alternatif digunakan di dalam penelitian ini berorientasi pengerjaan bubut pada proses produksi. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kecepatan potong mesin bubut terhadap tingkat kekasaran permukaan baja ST 60 dengan menggunakan pahat karbida dan perbedaan tingkat kekasaran permukaan baja ST 60 akibat kecepatan potong dan kedalaman sayatan pahat karbida. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada pengujian kekasaran permukaan baja ST 60 dengan menggunakan sebuah alat Surface Tester Merk Mutitoy dengan meletakkan alat surface tester ke permukaan pada sampel di ukur sepanjang 50 mm serta menentukan kecepatan potong pada mesin bubut dengan menghitung rpm dan diameter benda kerja. Hasil pengujian pada pengaruh pada kecepatan potong pada tingkat kekasaran di bagian permukaan pada baja ST 60 pada tiga spesimen bahwasannya pahat karbida memiliki kekuatan dan ketahanan relatif rendah pada kecepatan potong yang kecil dari segi rpm, kecepatan sayatan dan penghasilan geram, dan mengalami perbedaan pada tingkat kekasaran yang pada kecepatan potong 50,4127 nilai rata-rata kekasaran permukaan bahan uji satu Ra=6,297 Rq=7,455 Rz=29,817; sedangkan kecepatan potong (v) 73,6801 nilai rata-ratanya adalah Ra=2,051 Rq=2,4946 Rz=11,032 dan pada kecepatan potong 104,7033 dengan nilai rata-ratanya Ra=2,392 Rq=2,8823 Rz=12. Hasil pada penelitian yang dijalankan dapat menyimpulkan semakin tinggi kecepatan yang dibutuhkan pada bubutan material ST-60 nilai angka pada kekasaran hasil bubutan yang diperoleh mengecil.
