Optimasi Perendaman Air Belerang Panas Terhadap Sifat Mekanis dan Sifat Fisis Strip Bambu Petung (Dendrocalamus asper)

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan dan memberdayakan manfaat dari bambu. Bahan yang dipilih pada penelitian ini adalah bambu petung (Dendrocalamus asper) yang selama ini hanya di gunakan sebagai bahan bangunan dan kerajinan tangan akan diubah menjadi material teknik, maka perlu diteliti sifat mekanis dan sifat fisisnya. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mangetahui optimasi perendaman air belerang panas terhadap sifat mekanis dan fisis strip bambu petung. Untuk mengetahui masing-masing sifat mekanis fisis strip bambu petung dan mengetahui fungsi secara umum dari bambu tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini, dirancang terlebih dahulu langkah-langkah yang dilakukan dalam penelitian. Pada proses selanjutnya adalah mulai dari penebangan bambu petung, pembuatan strip, pengeringan, perendaman dengan bahan perendam air belerang panas, pengujian sampel untuk mengetahui kekuatan tarik dan difoto untuk melihat perubahan-perubahan apa yang terjadi secara fisik pada sampel. Hasil pengujian dan foto mikro strip dapat dijelaskan sebagai berikut : Kekuatan tarik strip tertinggi diperoleh pada perendaman 4 minggu, yakni 138 N/mm2 sedangkan kekuatan tarik terendah terdapat pada perendaman 2 minggu yakni 114 N/mm2. Regangan tertinggi terdapat pada perendaman 6 minggu yakni 0,043% dan modulus elastisitas terting didapat pada perendaman 4 minggu yakni 0,74 GPa. Perubahan struktur mikro permukaan strip sangat signifikan, yaitu strip normal permukaannya kelihatan kasar sedangkan yang telah mengalami perendaman permukaannya halus terutama strip yang direndam selama 4 minggu. Perubahan struktur mikro selalu berkorelasi dengan kekuatan tarik strip bambu petung, yaitu semakin halus permukaan strip semakin meningkat kekuatan tariknya.
