Abstract

The main purpose of polymer injection is to lower the ratio of mobility between water-oil. The most commonly used polymers are polyacrylamide and polysaccharides. By increasing the viscosity of the injection fluid, polymer injection can increase the sweeping efficiency thereby increasing oil gain. Processing in petroleum is highly dependent on microscopic and macroscopic pressing efficiency. This study aims to determine the viscosity effect of the addition of black grasshopper additives on polyacrylamide polymers whether good viscosity is obtained. The method used in this study is a laboratory experiment with an ostwald viscometer. The salinity of the formation water used in this study was 20,000 ppm with variations in polymer concentrations of 500 ppm, 1,000 ppm, and 2,000 ppm in polymers without black grasshopper mixture and with black grasshopper mixture. The results showed that there was a decrease in polymer viscosity in the addition of black grasshopper additives to polyacrylamide polymers, namely at a polymer concentration of 500 ppm down from 1.25 cp to 1.09 cp, at a polymer concentration of 1,000 ppm down from 1.32 cp to 1.17 cp, and at a polymer concentration of 2,000 ppm down from 1.68 cp to 1.25 cp.
