Complicaciones obstétricas en gestantes con edad materna avanzada

Abstract

OBJETIVO: describir las complicaciones obstétricas en gestantes con edad materna avanzada atendidas en el Hospital Nacional Ernestina García Viuda de Recinos, Jutiapa, durante el período de enero de 2020 a diciembre de 2024.MÉTODO: se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo, en una muestra de 195 expedientes clínicos de gestantes de 35 años o más. Se utilizó una boleta de recolección de datos que incluyó información sobre complicaciones obstétricas, edad gestacional, paridad, comorbilidades y mortalidad materna. RESULTADOS: el 53% de las gestantes presentó complicaciones obstétricas. La cesárea fue la complicación más frecuente (61%), seguida del aborto (15%) y la preeclampsia (9%). El 75% de los casos ocurrió en el tercer trimestre y el 89% en mujeres multíparas. Entre las pacientes complicadas, el 38% presentó comorbilidades, predominando hipertensión arterial (65%) y diabetes mellitus (24%). No se registraron casos de mortalidad materna. CONCLUSIÓN: la edad materna avanzada se asocia con una elevada frecuencia de complicaciones obstétricas, incluso en ausencia de comorbilidades previas. Estos hallazgos subrayan la necesidad de fortalecer el control prenatal y las estrategias de prevención dirigidas a gestantes de 35 años o más.
