Abstract

Pengabdian ini merupakan pengolahan daun pepaya untuk menjadi pakan ikan nila, pakan merupakan salah satu faktor penting produksi alam suatu kegiatan budidaya ikan, terutama pada sistem intensif. Secara fisiologis, pakan akan berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan perkembangan ikan, juga sebagai sumber energi, gerak dan reproduksi, sedangkan daun papaya mengandung tocophenol, senyawa alkaloid dan getah berwarna putih. Getah daun pepaya mengandung enzim papain, suatu enzim yang berfungsi untuk memecah protein atau bersifat proteolitik, sedangkan daun papaya yang tua lebih banyak mengandung senyawa fenolik, daun pepaya mampu memperbaiki pemanfaatan protein sehingga lebih efisien atau disebut sebagai efisiensi pemanfaatan protein sehingga dapat memperbaiki pertumbuhan, sintasan dan konversi pakan. Hal ini disebabkan karena ekstrak daun pepaya dapat memperbaiki kecernaan serta pemanfaatan pakan oleh ikan.
