La infecundidad en España: tic-tac, tic-tac, tic-tac !!!

Abstract

Falta menos de una década para que las mujeres nacidas en 1975 alcancen el medio siglo de existencia y se conviertan en las más infecundas de todas las generaciones nacidas en España en los últimos 130 años, período para el cual disponemos de información estadística. Muy probablemente, una de cada cuatro mujeres nacidas en 1975 no tendrá hijos cuando alcance los 50 años de edad, momento en que desde la demografía se hace balance de la descendencia final de las generaciones. Parte de esa infecundidad se deberá a la frustración del proyecto reproductivo de esas mujeres y eventualmente de sus parejas. En sociedades, como la nuestra, tan preocupadas por las consecuencias del envejecimiento de la población, sorprende el poco debate que genera que una de cada cuatro mujeres no vaya a tener ningún hijo, contraviniendo sus propias expectativas y deseos. Por esta razón, el primer número de Perspectives Demogràfiques, una publicación científica sobre demografía destinada a todos los públicos, está dedicado a las tendencias y posibles causas de la infecundidad en España.
