Abstract

Este libro aborda la paradoja ambiental de la industria azucarera: mientras produce un edulcorante esencial, genera la vinaza, uno de los residuos líquidos más contaminantes. La obra explora el impacto devastador de este subproducto en ecosistemas acuáticos y suelos, revelando cómo las prácticas actuales de disposición simplemente trasladan el problema entre compartimentos ambientales. A través de un análisis de tecnologías emergentes, se presentan soluciones innovadoras como la ozonización catalítica y sistemas de tratamiento integrados que transforman este pasivo ambiental en oportunidad de valorización. El libro propone un camino hacia la economía circular, donde lo que hoy es residuo pueda convertirse en recurso, cerrando los ciclos de materiales en la industria sucroalcoholera.
