Explorando fronteras lingüísticas y culturales: perspectivas estudiantiles sobre estereotipos de género en la selección de idiomas

Abstract

Este capítulo examina la compleja interacción entre estereotipos de género, culturales y elección de idiomas en el contexto universitario. Se aborda desde diversas perspectivas teóricas, incluyendo la socialización de género, la performatividad de género, el contacto lingüístico y cultural, y la identidad lingüística. Se detalla la metodología utilizada en un estudio cuantitativo realizado en tres universidades públicas de Sao Paulo, Brasil, explorando las asociaciones entre autopercepción de género y elección de idiomas. Se discuten los resultados, resaltando la presencia de estereotipos de género arraigados en la elección de idiomas, así como la influencia de estereotipos culturales y motivaciones diferenciadas según el género. Se concluye destacando la relevancia de considerar estos factores en la formulación de políticas educativas inclusivas y se señalan posibles direcciones para futuras investigaciones.
