Eucaristia, vocação e missão

Abstract

Abstract: The thematic content of the Eucharist is interrelated with that ofvocation, and mission. Thus the Church is the community of those who arecalled by Christ to permeate and transform the world by means of a life ofjustice, of truth, and of love. It becomes a spiritual task that derives from theEucharist and is nourished by it. Vocation to the Catholic faith comes from thelove of God and thus human life is consecrated because it is a viable projectbeing accomplished by every person. Moreover, this vocation implies a callingto belong to the Church as the People of God. Catholics are nourished by theBread from Heaven and those who partake of this bread are called to bring thisspiritual food to humankind. There are a variety of vocations deriving from theinward action of the Holy Spirit. All of them coincide in the objective to createcommunion in the Church of God. Quite helpful in this endeavor is the promotionof vocations as a joint effort of Pastoral Activity. As for the mission of the Church,it’s useful to stress the efficacious influence of the Eucharist that stems from theEaster event of Christ’s death and resurrection and inspires a liberatingdimension in society. Because of this event the People of God are engaged intheir mission to spread the life of faith in the world. In this perspective, God’scalling is readily accepted by the faithful and is analogous to Mary’s eucharisticacceptance of her mission in life.
