Abstract

Ziel von Citizenship Education sind mündige Bürgerinnen und Bürger. Bürger, die in der Lage sind, in bestehenden politischen, ökonomischen und gesellschaftlichen Systemen zu agieren und darüber hinaus Herrschafts- und Machtstrukturen zu analysieren, sich ein kritisch-reflektiertes Urteil zu bilden und mögliche Handlungsstrategien zu kennen, um selbst aktiv politische Prozesse beeinflussen zu können. Renommierte Autorinnen und Autoren verschiedener Disziplinen werfen in diesem Band einen konzeptionellen, theoretischen oder pragmatischen Blick auf die Herausforderungen gelingender Demokratiebildung. Neben Vertretern der Fachdidaktik, der Menschenrechtsbildung und der Soziologie widmen sich Lehrkräfte und politische Bildnerinnen und Bildner aus der außerschulischen Praxis den (globalen) Herausforderungen von Citizenship Education. Auch Schülerinnen und Schüler kommen in einem Gastbeitrag zu Wort. Das Grundlagenbuch richtet sich an alle Interessierten aus Wissenschaft und Praxis der schulischen und außerschulischen politischen Bildung sowie der Lehrkräftebildung.
