Abstract

A crescente adoção de sistemas construtivos industrializados, como o Wood Frame e o Light Steel Frame (LSF), tem impulsionado o uso de painéis estruturais à base de madeira, especialmente o Oriented Strand Board (OSB). Apesar de suas vantagens mecânicas e funcionais, esses materiais apresentam elevada susceptibilidade higroscópica, o que compromete seu desempenho sob condições de umidade. Este estudo experimental compara o comportamento mecânico de painéis OSB e compensado naval submetidos a quatro diferentes regimes higrotérmicos: condição padrão (20 °C e 65% URA), seca, saturada por imersão e saturada com ciclo de fervura. Foram realizados ensaios de tração perpendicular às fibras, resistência à flexão e módulo de elasticidade. Os resultados mostram perdas expressivas de comportamento mecânico nos painéis OSB sob ação da água, enquanto os painéis compensados mantiveram estabilidade estrutural superior. Tais resultados sustentam a viabilidade técnica dos compensados para uso em sistemas LSF, especialmente quando associada à adoção de estratégias construtivas que assegurem estanqueidade, durabilidade e desempenho higrotérmico compatível com os requisitos normativos vigentes.
