Abstract

Nella presente nota, studiamo (paragr. 1 e 2), quale completamento<br />della teoria della fotoionizzazione in atmosfera non isoterma, considerata<br />in altra nota (M che qui indicheremo con la sigla M, l'effetto<br />della curvatura terrestre sulla intensità di ionizzazione (e quindi sulla<br />densità elettronica) nei due casi in cui il gradiente verticale di temperatura<br />sia costante in tutto l'intervallo di quote considerato (caso<br />questo studiato da Gledhill e Szendrei (2 ) solo in condizioni stazionarie<br />e trascurando l'effetto della curvatura terrestre) e in quello in<br />cui il gradiente ha un valore costante e positivo con la quota fino a<br />una quota c e valore zero per quote superiori. Deduciamo inoltre<br />(paragr. 3) delle espressioni approssimate per la densità elettronica stabilendone<br />i limiti di validità e di applicabilità alla interpretazione dei<br />dati sperimentali; stabiliamo infine (paragr. 4) una relazione di validità<br />generale, nel caso stazionario e per un generico andamento della<br />temperatura con la quota, tra densità elettronica, coefficiente di ricombinazione<br />generalizzato, densità di materia e coefficiente di assorbimento<br />della radiazione monocromatica ionizzante
