
Le concept de technologie appropriée propose que la meilleure solution pour une situation donnée dépende des caractéristiques de ce contexte, de sorte qu'une technologie moins chère et plus simple puisse être meilleure qu'une technologie de pointe. Un tel concept est fondamental pour les ingénieurs qui souhaitent travailler avec l'assainissement rural. Dans ce travail, une technologie conçue pour traiter un flux quotidien de 360 l.dia. -1 est présentée, qui se compose de trois étapes de traitement : une fosse de digesteur, une carafe et une zone humide construite à flux vertical. L'efficacité globale d'élimination de la DCO du système était de 89 % ± 6 %, et celle des solides en suspension totaux, de 92 % ± 7 %. Le système prévu pour être résilient et stable même en travaillant avec de grandes charges de DCO et a présenté un effluent final avec des concentrations de coliformes thermotolérants acceptables pour une réutilisation par irrigation au goutte à goutte dans les vergers, selon les critères d'évaluation des risques pour la santé stipulés par l'OMS (2006).

Tal concepto es fundamental para los ingenieros que desean trabajar con saneamiento rural. En este trabajo, se presenta una tecnología diseñada para tratar un flujo diario de 360 L.dia -1, que se compone de tres etapas de tratamiento: un pozo digestor, un decantador y un humedal construido de flujo vertical. La eficiencia general de eliminación de DQO del sistema fue del 89% ± 6%, y la del total de sólidos suspendidos, del 92% ± 7%. El sistema proporcionó resistencia y estabilidad incluso cuando se trabaja con grandes cargas de DQO y presentó un efluente final con concentraciones de coliformes termotolerantes aceptables para su reutilización mediante riego por goteo en huertos, de acuerdo con los criterios de evaluación de riesgos para la salud estipulados por la OMS (2006).
