Abstract

A Reserva Florestal do Morro Grande (RFMG) configura-se como a principal área de captação de água pela Sabesp no Sistema Alto Cotia. A falta e necessidade de estudos na área, bem como suas peculiaridades físico-ambientais, já eram destacadas por alguns autores. Este artigo é resultado de diversas pesquisas em Geografia Física que vem sendo realizadas na RFMG onde, através da caracterização geral de seu relevo, hidrografia e solos, foram levantadas algumas questões a cerca de sua evolução geomorfológica. Identificou-se através da pesquisa que possíveis capturas de drenagem, juntamente com evidências de intensa remobilização da cobertura pedológica podem testemunhar importantes processos geomorfológicos e pedológicos relacionados à gênese e evolução do Planalto de Ibiúna.
