Two issues of extreme significance in water resource planning and management are identified: the question of best mix of management practices for a particular basin and the question of selection of information gathering methodology required for deciding on elements of a regional water plan. These questions are examined in the context of the "Westwater Project". A set of suggestions with regards to the forthcoming Yukon River Basin Intergovernmental Planning Study are developed.
