Having accurate, up-to-date technical information that is easilly accessible is vital to the safe operation of any fleet of aircraft. The only real way to ensure the currency and accuracy of technical data is to use data which is constantly updated by the manufacturer over a network. This also permits two-way data transfer, which is equally important in ensuring that a manufacturer is able to monitor the deployment and operation of eqUipment in service. A central enabler for this is a reliable, secure network infrastructure and this paper describes AeroNet, a secure TCP/IP extranet developed by SITA in conjuction with the aerospace industry.
