<div class="htmlview paragraph">Using the existing sensors, electronic controller and hydraulic systems, it is possible to expand an anti-lock braking system for traction control with very little extra hardware or software. Traction control prevents spin of the driven wheels, thus maintaining vehicle stability even in extreme driving situations. Various control configurations are possible from pure throttle and ignition control for reduced engine torque through braking action for controlled acceleration of a spinning wheel, to the control of a limited-slip differential.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">A fail-safe concept is a basic prerequisite of such a system. A high degree of reliability is achieved by the use of modern electronic technology.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">Modular configuration of the hardware and the controller software serves to adapt the system to an extremely wide variety of system requirements. The ASR control prevents the driven wheels from spinning if vehicle acceleration is excessive.</div>
