<div class="htmlview paragraph">Future military aircraft will demand greater operational capability from lighter weight and more durable power systems. The historical development approach has been inadequate in assessing the needs and providing the necessary early power systems installation coordination. An expanded power systems development program can provide tangible benefits by development of system specific component technology and by providing the opportunity to improve component and system maturity prior to production release. The process can result in lighter weight systems with reduced fly-away costs and in lower costs of operation, which will more than pay for the expanded power systems development program.</div>
