Abstract

<div class="htmlview paragraph">The ARAMIS system is an intermediate capacity transportation system. It provides, at the same time, a high traffic capacity (up to 15 000 passengers/hour/way) and a direct service capability.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">It is now developed jointly between MATRA and the Paris Metro Authority and the first commercial line will be in operation in late 1977 in the Paris suburbs.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">Its investment cost is moderate, due to the limited civil engineering required and the operating costs are in the range of the conventional subway.</div>
