<div class="htmlview paragraph">Noise certification under FAR Part 36 is now a requirement for issuance of all new and supplemental type certificates for turbojet-powered or transport-category aircraft. Recent experience with three noise certification programs has shown: how to estimate from aircraft performance data the necessity and extent of noise measurement requirements, ways to show compliance through the use of equivalent test data, and techniques for minimizing program cost.</div>
