<div class="htmlview paragraph">Negative plate life has been improved by reducing the rate of sulfation of the battery. Chemistry of sulfation is briefly reviewed and factors in battery design contributing to improved sulfation-life are discussed. Emphasis is given to the “oil negative,” which not only reduces sulfation of the wet battery but has been found to prevent effectively the oxidation of dry charged negative plates.</div>
