<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper considers redundant systems, starting with overall flight control system requirements, and then proceeds via various possible approaches through to a specific concept and its typical applications. Functional, reliability, and safety aspects of a flight control system which are essential to a good redundant scheme are discussed, and the several approaches are compared. The HydroLogics approach is particularly found to offer a simple, versatile, fast acting, and reliable system, based on sound concept and proven hardware. By taking full advantage of these redundant systems, the true potential of high performance vehicles can be realized.</div>
