THE CHARACTERISTICS OF SILICONE BEARING LUBRICANTS

Abstract

<div class="htmlview paragraph">Research and development in the electric motor field have created the need for anti-friction bearing lubricants with long life and operability over an ever broadening temperature range. Silicone greases meet the requirements of many such applications. The development of new thickeners has extended the high temperature limits of these products. Future aircraft electric motor bearing lubricant requirements will not be fully satisfied with available materials. Efforts to product improved silicone greases to meet these needs are progressing. The development of solutions to the problem of preparing adequate anti-friction bearing lubricants for these future applications would be accelerated by any possible compromises in the proposed requirements.</div>
