The impressive development of medicine, associated with the large number of functions performed in the hospital building, makes it a complex environment. Due to the complexity and high cost of construction and maintenance of a hospital, the design process requires special attention. That way, the designers involved, that increasingly must have expertise, must work closely. In this context, this article, part of a Masters dissertation in progress, aims presenting a bibliography review on the concepts that involve the design process of hospital building, showing their importance to the built environment quality, in the recognition that the building quality directly affects the quality of the offered services. Key-words: Hospital. Design process. Quality.
