This paper presents a model of a 6-phase machine based on symmetrical component theory. A mathematical model of the machine, with nine windings, is developed into instantaneous symmetrical compo nents. These, in turn, are used to derive expressions relating phasor sym metrical components of voltages and currents. Such a model is very useful in treating asymmetrical faults.
