Symmetrical Component Representation of a Six - Phase Salient - Pole Machine

Abstract

This paper presents a model of a 6-phase machine based on symmetrical component theory. A mathematical model of the machine, with nine windings, is developed into instantaneous symmetrical compo­ nents. These, in turn, are used to derive expressions relating phasor sym­ metrical components of voltages and currents. Such a model is very useful in treating asymmetrical faults.
