
Summary No appreciable difference was seen in the serological reaction between native tobacco mosaic virus and acetyl, p-chlorobenzoyl, carbobenzoxy, reduced carbobenzoxy, acetylglycine-treated, and benzal derivatives of the virus when tested with antiserum to the native virus. Tobacco mosaic virus-azo-arsanilic acid produced no specific haptenic antibody in the rabbit when used as an antigen. The modified virus did react with an antiserum to a heterologous azo-arsanilic acid derivative.
