Quand on considere la discussion sur l’histoire universelle dans l’Allemagne de 1800, on observe une remarquable affinite entre les auteurs de cette epoque autour, de l’historien de Leipzig Karl Lamprecht, et l’idee de transfert culturel propre a la fin du xxe siecle. L’article tente d’expliquer qu’avec un ecart d’un siecle des interets et sensibilites comparables se manifestent et qu’entre les deux conjonctures l’attention portee aux transferts culturels a plutot diminue. La question est abordee sur l’arriere-plan des phases de developpement de la globalisation et des moments correspondants dans l’histoire universelle du xxe siecle. On en deduit qu’une convergence de la global history et de la recherche sur les transferts culturels est souhaitable et necessaire.
