Abstract

Il saggio analizza lo sviluppo del sistema di registrazione degli atti pubblici e di conservazione dei registri a L’Aquila nei secoli XIV-XV. Nel Trecento l’uso dei registri per le attività amministrative era già diffuso, mentre le deliberazioni consiliari erano affidate agli atti notarili. Negli anni settanta sono attestati i primi verbali, collocati però negli statuti come reformationes. Il passaggio ai registri consiliari avvenne nel Quattrocento inoltrato, quando si inaugurò la serie dei libri reformationum che rese duratura la conservazione dei verbali. Inoltre si predispose un sistema di classificazione proto-archivistica, per i libri e i registra amministrativi eredi dei quaterni trecenteschi, mentre le altre scritture venivano tenute ancora in apposite casse. Queste evoluzioni si accompagnarono alla trasformazione del notarius reformationum in cancelliere, con la costruzione di una vera e propria cancelleria negli ultimi decenni del Quattrocento, frutto della combinazione di fattori politici e culturali interni ed esterni.
