Abstract

En la década de los 70 del siglo pasado se generó en el Sahara Occidental un conflicto larvado en el interior del Magreb que ha pervivido hasta nuestros días y en el que, desde 1974, los intereses de las grandes potencias han tenido mucho que decir. Algunos de esos actores u observadores han sido ya objeto de estudio, pero seguimos conociendo muy poco sobre el papel representado por otros países vecinos que generaron dinámicas de colaboración y mediación en el conflicto. Este trabajo analiza la posición y las acciones emprendidas por Túnez y Senegal, que, de hecho, se movieron en esta disputa siguiendo siempre la órbita de Francia; por tanto, mantuvieron posiciones promarroquíes. Aun así, ambos procuraron evitar una conflagración en el Magreb, ante un problema en el que las razones históricas se mezclaban con intereses geopolíticos, en el marco de la fase de distensión de la Guerra Fría.Detrás de ellos, Francia y EEUU, aparentemente neutrales, impulsaban estos encuentros y conversaciones con el objetivo de impedir el choque armado directo entre Marruecos y Argelia.
