Abstract

Este articulo pretende abordar un estudio comparativo de la trayectoria seguida por los regimenes de gobierno municipal existentes en la Corona de Castilla y en la de Aragon a lo largo de la Epoca Moderna desde un punto de vista institucional, social y politico. Las evidentes diferencias existentes entre los modelos de organizacion institucional del gobierno urbano, propios de cada territorio, son claramente expuestas. Sin embargo, no por eso se deja de subrayar la similitud de los principios en los que se inspiraban unos y otros, asi como la convergencia de los objetivos que perseguian. Los procesos, diversamente concretados en cada territorio, que condujeron a la formacion de una oligarquia municipal socialmente heterogenea en sus origenes, pero progresivamente cohesionada en torno a valores, patrimonios y formas de vida comunes, constituyen un segundo objeto de analisis. Finalmente, se emprende tambien el estudio de los principios en los que se inspiro la Corona y de los objetivos que persiguio en sus relaciones con las elites locales de poder en los municipios de las dos coronas.
