After recalling the rich history of the American Linguistic Atlas Project, which began in 1929, the article presents the progress of this atlas, including the numerical conversion of the data collected. As the edition of the atlases proved to be problematic, a choice of online publication was made, which opens up stimulating scientific perspectives.
