Abstract

Le mouvement de la mondialisation n’épargne aucun pays. En Côte d’Ivoire, il s’exprime sous plusieurs formes dans les villes, villages et hameaux. Ce processus entraîne des mutations spatiales, sociales, économiques et culturelles. Cette contribution présente la manifestation de la mondialisation dans deux rues d’une métropole ouest-africaine portuaire. Aussi montrons-nous que le renforcement de l’économie libérale par la globalisation est révélateur des dynamiques souvent propres aux grandes villes ouvertes mais permet également d’accentuer le processus d’exclusion, de vulnérabilité sociale, de précarisation et de recomposition spatiale. En quelque sorte, la mondialisation fragilise une certaine fraction de population et la déverse dans les rues, pour en faire des parias de la société. Ces espaces publics se sont renforcés comme des lieux d’expérimentation et de constructions collectives ou individuelles d’alternatives économiques et sociales, devenant, pour ces populations précarisées, un rempart contre l’anéantissement social. De nouvelles solidarités se tissent à travers des formes inédites d’échange, de crédits et d’épargne qui mettent l’accent sur la mutualité. Une nouvelle forme de régulation sociale par la rue s’est créée.
