Abstract

Cet article confronte le mode de transmission de savoirs observé dans l’artisanat traditionnel marocain à celui utilisé –y compris au Maroc– par l’enseignement “formel” (enseignement scolaire comme enseignement professionnel transmis dans les institutions publiques). La première partie précise, à partir de la situation particulière de la coopérative des artisans potiers de Fès les caractéristiques du mode traditionnel d’apprentissage. Le contexte ainsi défini, la seconde partie s’intéresse à la question de la transmission et de la rétention des savoirs pratiques, examinant tour à tour la question des impératifs économiques des employeurs/maîtres d’apprentissage et celle des difficultés didactiques propres à la transmission de leur métier. L’analyse démonte ensuite la complexité des situations et renvoie finalement la matrice de ce mode de transmission des savoirs au modèle religieux et à la relation maître/novice. En conclusion, il s’agit de confronter les deux logiques à l’œuvre dans chacun des modèles.
