Abstract

L’article analyse l’usage politique de la courtoisie chez les troubadours, tout en montrant que les connotations politiques dans cette tradition poétique se déploient au-delà du genre du sirventes. La méthode est ici diachronique, et elle est conduite sur des exemples choisis dans la production des troubadours de la Couronne d’Aragon. Les poèmes conservés du roi Alphonse le Troubadour et de son arrière-petit-fils le roi Pierre le Grand, ainsi que l’ensemble de la poésie issue de leur milieu, manifeste le désir d’ériger le souverain en parangon des vertus courtoises. Leurs ennemis ont, en contrepartie, conçu leur poésie dans le but de discréditer la condition courtoise du roi. En définitive, la poésie des troubadours s’avère un vrai champ de bataille pour l’appropriation de la courtoisie dans des contextes où la conflictualité politique est des plus explosives.
