Abstract

Ce travail traite de la crise provoquée par l’effondrement du viaduc numéro 1 de l’autoroute Caracas-La Guaira en janvier 2006, à partir d’une perspective méthodologique multiple qui permet de prendre en compte non seulement les variables qui se combinent et participent à la crise, mais aussi le processus historique de la construction, des usages et des abus de cette autoroute. De cette façon, on reconstitue les situations similaires qui ont vu le jour par le passé dans la société vénézuélienne, en remontant jusqu’au modèle colonial. On peut alors observer la présence permanente de deux aspects qui sont resignifiés dans chaque contexte historique et social, mais qui sont toujours associés au développement de voies de communication terrestres : les intérêts de pouvoir et les phénomènes naturels. Ainsi, le travail propose d’aborder l’histoire critique des chemins entre Caracas et La Guaira depuis les routes coloniales jusqu’au dénouement final de l’autoroute, qui sera l’occasion d’observer la confrontation de deux modèles différents de pouvoir (l’un en perte de vitesse, l’autre en pleine croissance) qui luttent pour la conduite idéologique et politique du pays.
