Vozes «brônzeas» na paisagem sonora eborense

Abstract

Integrado ao património cultural eborense, os sinos intramuros da cidade de Évora foram responsáveis, desde tempos remotos, por ordenar o tempo, comunicar publicamente variadas notícias, alegrar as festividades, garantir a proteção espiritual, alertar para as intempéries e incêndios, chorar os mortos, regular o trabalho, entre outras funções. Nota-se que o cotidiano da cidade era marcado pela presença constante dos sons desses instrumentos, sons estes organizados através de um complexo sistema de códigos sonoros, mas reconhecidos por seus habitantes. Para além das referências relacionadas à prática sineira identificadas em relações de épocas, em documentos burocráticos – entre outras fontes históricas – é a partir das publicações de Gabriel Pereira (1901), de José Joaquim D´Ascensão Valdez (1911), e de Túlio Espanca (1966) que podemos identificar as primeiras iniciativas de registo patrimonial dos sinos de Évora. Entretanto, na falta de maiores estudos sobre essa temática, nas décadas seguintes, propomos, no âmbito do projeto PASEV – Patrimonialização da Paisagem Sonora de Évora, o estudo histórico da prática sineira na cidade, a inventariação dos sinos das instituições situadas intramuros e as possibilidades de revitalização patrimonial desses instrumentos.
