Abstract

Le néolibéralisme appliqué aux mondes du travail vise moins à liquider le syndicalisme qu’à lui assigner un nouveau rôle : celui de partenaire social préférant toujours le dialogue à l’opposition, accompagnant les politiques patronales et relayant les décisions managériales. Il en a résulté des réformes qui ont changé la donne : les négociations s’institutionnalisent à l’échelle de l’entreprise, les représentants syndicaux se professionnalisent tandis que les mobilisations au travail reculent. Mais ces dispositifs ont-ils pour autant abouti à faire des syndicalistes des relais dociles du patronat ? Dans quelle mesure se conforment- ils au rôle qui leur est prescrit ? Comment peuvent-ils au contraire y résister ? À partir d’enquêtes de terrain menées dans des contextes professionnels variés, Baptiste Giraud livre une analyse sociologique et politique à la fois précise et nuancée du dialogue social en entreprise. Loin de l’image caricaturale d’un militantisme aveuglément contestataire ou totalement domestiqué, cet ouvrage met en lumière la diversité des pratiques patronales de la négociation et des mécanismes d’ajustement des syndicalistes à leur rôle institutionnel.
